It is important that your puppy or kitten is as healthy as possible from the beginning.

Each puppy should receive a few core vaccines (starting around 6-8 weeks of age) to prevent diseases which can be life threatening: Multiple Distemper-Parvo (DAP) vaccines are required, and One Rabies vaccine at about 16 weeks of age Other vaccines may be recommended if your pet is around other pets, travel with you, go to dog parks or stay at boarding facilities, etc. These vaccines include Bordetella (Kennel Cough),Leptosporosis, and the and Influenza Vaccine. Please talk with our experienced veterinarians and veterinary technicians with any questions regarding vaccines to keep your pet protected based on his/her lifestyle.

All kittens should be tested for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) as soon as they are adopted, but especially before they are brought home to any existing cats in your household. Kittens require several core vaccines starting around 6-8 weeks of age. These vaccines include: multiple feline upper respiratory vaccine (FVRCP), Feline Leukemia Vaccine (FeLV) and Rabies.

We provide routine parasite screenings (fecal exams) and dewormings for all new puppies and kittens. This will ensure that your puppy or kitten doesn’t have any intestinal parasites (such as roundworms and hookworms), some of which are transmissible to people. If your pet does show signs of intestinal parasites, we will treat him/her immediately and retest a fecal sample at the following puppy or kitten visit to ensure we’ve rid your pet of infection.

At your first visit, we will provide your puppy or kitten with a free dose of heartworm, flea and/or tick prevention to get him/her started on the right path to a healthy future. These monthly preventions are meant to be used life long and often include dewormer for common intestinal parasites.
